WELLINGTON, April 28 (Xinhua) – New Zealand recorded 9,047 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, the country’s health ministry said.

In the largest city of Auckland, 2519 new infections were detected. In addition, 80 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected on the border with New Zealand, the ministry said.

There are now 484 patients in New Zealand hospitals, including 15 in intensive care units. The ministry also reported 13 more deaths from COVID-19.

New Zealand has reported 912,490 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in the country.
