Antalya [Turkey]April 16 (ANI): The Indian women’s tennis team defeated New Zealand 2-1 in their fourth Group I Cup match of Billy Jean King 2022 in Group I in Antalya, Turkey.

Thanks to this victory, the Indian team avoided entering Group II for the Billy Gene King Cup next year.

India’s women’s singles player Ankita Raina and Rutuca Bhosale won the respective singles matches, but the pair of Rio Bhatti and Saudjanya Baviseti lost the match on the grounds of the MTA Tennis Academy.

India will play its last match against South Korea on Saturday, but after the victories over Indonesia and New Zealand they guarantee a third or fourth finish in a pool of six teams. The Indian women’s tennis team lost to Japan and China in the first two matches.

Rutudja Bhosale, ranked 477th in the world, played the opening singles match against the 1342nd racket of the world Valentina Ivanova. The Indian tennis player defeated Valentina 6-1, 7 (7) -6 (3) in one hour and 20 minutes.

Ankita Raina took 319th place, beating Kiwi â„– 1, Paige Hurricane 7-5, 6-3. The match lasted an hour and 34 minutes.

However, the Indian women’s doubles team of Sawjani Baviseti and Ria Bhatia defended again and in one hour 3 minutes lost to Paige Hurrigan and Erin Rutliff 6-2, 6-0. (ANI)
