WELLINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) – 14,175 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in New Zealand on Saturday, the Ministry of Health said.

Among the new infections in the community were 2,652 in Auckland’s largest city, and the remaining cases were detected across the country, the ministry said.

In addition, 37 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected at the New Zealand border, the ministry said.

There were 841 patients with COVID-19 in New Zealand hospitals, including 27 in intensive care units or high-dependence units. The ministry also reported 20 deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday.

New Zealand has reported 586,157 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

New Zealand is now at the highest level under the COVID-19 protection framework. In the updated Red settings, starting Friday, indoor gatherings are limited to 200 people with no restrictions on outdoor gatherings.
