Mount Maunganui [New Zealand]March 29 (ANI): All-around New Zealand defeated the Netherlands by seven wickets in the first ODI series of three matches here at the Bay Oval on Mount Maunganui on Tuesday.

The choice of four goalkeepers Blair Tickner during his debut in the ODI and the first hundred Will Young brought the hosts a bright victory.

Tickner finished with 4/50 of ten overs, demanding Vikram Singh and Basa de Lide in his first spell before returning to pick up Logan van Bike and Peter Silaar.

Despite the early loss of Martin Guptil, New Zealand was able to collect 10 ODI Super League points thanks to the work of Henry Nichols and Will Young, the latter scoring his first ODI of the century.

The goals of Nichols and Ross Taylor came too late in the serve for the Netherlands. Young won and turned his girls ’fifty into a hundred when New Zealand took a 1-0 lead in a three-match series.
