Mini New Zealand has unveiled the pricing details for the upcoming next-generation Cooper, with prices starting just shy of $50,000.

Scheduled to hit the market in the third quarter of this year, the new model will offer consumers a choice between petrol-powered variants in the form of the Cooper C and S, as well as fully electric options in the Cooper E and SE.

Matt Schmidt, General Manager of MINI Australia and New Zealand, emphasized the rich heritage of the Mini Cooper, which has remained a cornerstone of the brand for over six decades.

The entry-level Cooper C, priced from $49,990, will feature an inline three-cylinder engine generating 115kW and 230Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It will be available in two trims, Classic and Favoured, with the former boasting a range of standard features including adaptive cruise control, augmented reality navigation, heated front seats, and a panorama glass roof.

For those seeking additional amenities, the Favoured trim, priced at $53,990, offers upgrades such as a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, electronically adjustable John Cooper Works seats, and more.

Performance enthusiasts can opt for the Cooper S, starting at $56,990, equipped with a four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 150kW and 300Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds, the Cooper S will be available in various trim levels, including the Classic, Favoured, and JCW Sport.

The electric variants, Cooper E and SE, priced from $60,990 and $66,990 respectively, offer environmentally conscious consumers a range of up to 305km and feature similar specifications to their petrol counterparts, with differences in paint options and wheels.

Both electric models can be rapidly recharged using DC fast chargers or through AC chargers, with charging times ranging from 30 minutes to over five hours.

Interested buyers are encouraged to register their interest or place a deposit on Mini New Zealand’s website ahead of the model’s anticipated release later this year.
